1. On the front cover of the novel is this quote: "Don't judge a man until you've walked two moons in his moccasins." What is your interpretation of that quote and why?
2. In chapter 3, Salamanca rescues a spider in her classroom and sets it free. She thinks to herself, "...if people expect you to be brave, sometimes you pretend you are, even when you're frightened to your very bones" (p.14). Describe two other moments in the novel thus far where Sal demonstrated bravery. Explain why you would consider them brave acts.
